Welcome to the Hexa-verse (2024)
Motion Graphics
As part of my internship at AppLovin SparkLabs, I was tasked with creating a user acquisition video for Hexa Sort, a popular sorting puzzle game with over 10 million downloads. Inspired by vibrant art styles and successful past ads, I developed a concept that transformed the game's core mechanic into a dynamic journey through the 'Hexaverse'—a series of visually captivating worlds, each with its own unique theme. This project reflects my passion for motion design, 3D animation, and creating engaging user experiences for mobile games.
Research
Hexa Sort is a puzzle game designed for female players aged 25-44. The gameplay involves merging hexagons of the same color through a flipping animation.
Based on top-performing ads for Hexa Sort, I identified three key qualities that resonate with the target audience:
- Vibrant Colors
- Massive Stacks
- Satisfying Motion

Concept Development
I drew inspiration from top-performing creatives and external sources like Spider-Verse to design a vibrant, dynamic video concept. The core idea focused on a simple gameplay move that unlocks a journey through the 'Hexaverse'—a series of three themed worlds, each with its own unique visuals.

Supporting Projects
Alongside the internship keystone project, I contributed to several supporting initiatives, including App Store Optimization (ASO) icon design for Wordscapes, a mobile word puzzle game with over 100 million downloads.
Wordscapes is a swipe-based word puzzle game where players connect letters to form words that fill a crossword-style grid and complete each level. The game combines relaxing gameplay with brain-training mechanics, making it one of the most popular mobile word games.
Objective
Design new App Store icon concepts to improve user acquisition through A/B testing while maintaining the recognizable Wordscapes brand identity.
Tool
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop
Art Direction
Direction 01: Summer Theme
A fresh, seasonal concept aimed to capitalize on summer-themed promotions while giving the app a vibrant, approachable appearance.
Direction 02 : Universe Divination Magic Circle
A mystical concept inspired by magical divination circles. The glowing, magical elements and universe create a sense of mystery and discovery, encouraging users to explore the game's world of word puzzles.
Direction 03: Bold Card Theme
A high-contrast, graphic direction using strong typography and simplified compositions to maximize visibility and readability at small icon sizes across the App Store.
Intern Fair
During last week’s intern onsite week, we had the opportunity to showcase our Keystone project at the AppLovin intern fair, sharing it with people outside of SparkLabs. I designed this trifold poster to introduce myself and present the creative workflow and thought process behind the project. A special thanks to my mentors and fellow interns for their support and collaboration!
